‘When I saw you I fell in love, you smiled because you knew’ – William Shakespeare
A lot of us have felt attracted to someone the moment we set our eyes on them, but is it safe to say it was love? Or was it just a physiological response on seeing someone attractive – an attraction that one often mistakes for love at first sight?
We ardently believe in the idea of Love At First Sight, but we thought it best to get a few unbiased opinion. We spoke to a few people and here are some really diverse and genuine responses we received. Tell us which one do you relate to and why.
“Love at first sight is definitely true. You CAN walk into a room and immediately walk into love with someone! I don’t mean it in only the physical sense of attraction. Sometimes, you notice someone for their aloofness, or their dorkiness, or maybe just the way they smile. And, you think to yourself – Hey, I think I am in love. Whether it lasts or not is a different story, of course [Laughter] but it definitely is a FACT.â€

“FICTION. Pure FICTION. It has never happened to me. I think of myself as a fairly attractive woman and no matter what, I’d never fall in love with a man at first sight. To me, it is important that I hear what he has to say, how he behaves with outhers.. in short, it is important I get to know him. Sure, I can find someone attractive and may want to initiate a conversation. But the thought of love never crosses my mind unless I have spoken to them a few times.

“I believe in love at first sight. I am a living proof of it. I met him when at a common friend’s wedding and in a pool of men and women our eyes caught each others’. We started to talk and things developed from there. Of course we weren’t aware that we both liked each other equally, I just assumed it was me who fell in love with him at first sight, but then on my first birthday with him he wrote me this beautiful letter to express how he fell in love with me at first sight. Now, i get to live our first meeting whenever I want.â€

“Sure, why not. Next time you can ask me if unicorn exists and I’ll say the same thing! No joke, love at first sight is a concept that is sold heavily in movies and affects mostly a much younger generation. You know, young boys and girls who haven’t already had their heart broken a couple of times. And, who yet don’t realize the importance of money and material yet. Sorry, if I sound like a sceptic but it is what it is.â€

“Yes, I think love at first site is a FACT. I remember seeing this girl in my college and I wasn’t sure if she noticed me too. So, I walked up to her and used the classic – Do you believe in love at first sight or should I walk by again?’
Guess what, she smiled and we are dating now. Definitely love at first sight for me!â€
That’s cleared my thoughts. Thanks for contributing.
